The aim of this module is to provide the learner with an understanding of the term ‘Visual Impairment’ and the different forms and conditions associated with it and how to offer assistance to a person with a visual impairment.

This module will cover:
  • Defining visual impairment and its nuances.
  • Exploring the diverse categories of visual impairments.
  • Identifying how to assist an individual who has a visual impairment.
  • Recognising the various types of visual impairment equipment used.
On completion of this module, learners will be able to:
  • Explain what the term “visual impairment” means.
  • Identify the different types of visual impairments.
  • Demonstrate how to assist a person with a visual impairment.
  • Identify the different types of assistance dogs.
  • Identify actionable measures that can be adopted to confront and prevent instances of modern slavery.
